Swatch Mechanic Motion ~ A plastic toy for grown up

Swatch Diaphane Irony Automatic SVDK1005

I did mention from the previous post on Swatch (titled: Forever Young) that I bought an Automatic Swatch from a collector who could not taken his extensive collection over during migration. This is a Swatch from the year 2003 from the family of Irony Diaphane and from 2003 Fall Winter Collection. It is named Mechanic Motion with reference number SVDK1005.

Okay, the watch comes in a plastic time capsule type of transparent container. You can have a peek of your watch from outside the light blue container. On the container It was proudly printed in silver "Swiss Made", "Swatch Irony Diaphane".

Like others in the Irony Diaphane family, this watch has a frosted transparent plastic case with silver aluminum bezel. The case is 42mm in diameter. The main theme for this watch is the dark or navy blue colour.

The dark blue leather strap embossed in a rhomboidal crisscross print and coupled with an aluminum buckle. The aluminium buckle has the word "Swatch" engraved on it.

This watch has a metallic blue dial encircled in silver, with embossed print similar to strap. There is a hollow cut-outs revealing parts of the watch mechanism at the center of the dial. Silver appliques in the shape of rhomboids act as hour markers. The 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock are in silver arabic numbers. The crown of this watch is made from aluminum. The hour and minute hand are silver colour with glowing property.

This watch has a transparent back that can enable us to appreciate its mechanism. The movement used is the 21 jewels ETA 2842. ETA 2842 is exclusively for Swatch watches. It has a frequency of 21,600 bph and a power reserve of 48 hours.

This watch has a water-resistance of 3 Bar (30 meters/100 feet). I paid RM300 plus for this piece of Swiss Precision and Technology. For that I am willing to pay.... but if you ask me to buy a plastic watch with Swiss Tourbillon at a price tag of USD 3,000; it will never cross my mind even though is a limited edition.
